Verify an Agent Investigation Adds New Evidence

Verification for repeated work asks whether the new pass earns its place. Compare a prior brief with the proposed or completed investigation, verify its changed input and evidence output, and inspect the stop rule. A longer report does not prove additional coverage.

Check whether the outcome improved

  1. Compare task fingerprints

    Check question, scope, source set, time window, revision, evidence standard, and expected output against the prior attempt. Require one documented difference that could affect the decision. Label a recheck as intentional when it uses the same inputs for a new time or quality boundary.

  2. Verify the evidence delta

    Identify newly gathered artifacts, changed records, new comparison, or resolved question, then trace its effect on claims and recommendation. Reject a claimed delta that only restates prior findings. Preserve the prior and current evidence indexes with their timestamps.

  3. Check closure behavior

    Confirm the output records conclusion, remaining uncertainty, owner, and next trigger. Run a repeat setup to ensure the handoff points to existing work or names the new boundary. Retain reviewer notes when the decision is to merge, stop, or continue.

What to carry forward

Accept continued investigation when a material input or question changed, the new evidence is traceable, and the result resolves or narrows a stated boundary. Otherwise merge or close it with an explicit limitation. Keep verification open if the stop condition cannot be tested.
