Verify a fix when reproduction steps were incomplete

Verification should use the clearer path found during investigation while preserving the limits of what the customer originally reported. Check the repaired behavior, nearby conditions, and closure wording so a newly reproducible test does not overstate original coverage. A reconstructed path can verify a fix while still leaving the original report’s limits visible.

Check whether the outcome improved

  1. Define the verified path

    State actor, initial state, action, expected result, observed result, and release context for the path that can now be tested. Link it to the original report and identify any assumptions introduced during reconstruction.

  2. Check nearby boundaries

    Exercise one or two conditions that could share the same mechanism, such as role, input, timing, or recovery. Confirm expected rejection and fallback behavior, and record untested branches rather than labeling them fixed.

  3. Match the resolution claim

    Review the closure or release note against the checks. Say what was restored, under which conditions, and what remains uncertain. Ensure the original evidence request or unresolved branch remains discoverable if needed.

What to carry forward

Verification passes when the reconstructed path works, meaningful boundaries remain intentional, and the result is scoped to tested evidence. If the original outcome still cannot be reproduced, keep the item provisional and state the exact limitation instead of claiming a complete fix.
