Build a useful investigation brief
Reconstruct a safe baseline
Use available role, release, data state, route, and timing to create the smallest test setup. Identify every assumption and avoid copying private customer values. If a condition cannot be recreated, keep it in the uncertainty list.
Vary discriminating conditions
Test the action order, input shape, permission, network, and timing conditions suggested by evidence. Record exact outcomes and negative results. Do not treat a failure under a different setup as confirmation of the customer report.
Close or preserve the gap
Write the reproducible path if found, including expected and observed outcomes, or explain why it remains unconfirmed. Rank mechanism hypotheses and recommend the next detail request or experiment that would narrow them.
What to carry forward
A useful brief contains the smallest reproducible path or a transparent inability to reproduce, with tested variations and negative results. Stop when new conditions no longer discriminate; keep the original report open if the evidence gap still affects the customer outcome.
Keep the decision with the work.
Use a Work Item in Aglet to record the problem, the evidence you have, and the next decision. Add an owner and priority, then keep updates in the discussion so the next person can follow the reasoning.
