Build a useful investigation brief
Build crossed environment fixtures
Create matching test, matching live, test-to-live, live-to-test, missing-marker, and rejected-credential cases with safe resource identifiers. Record expected receiver and effect before running each fixture. Repeat each case by deployment environment and receiver revision.
Trace selection to outcome
Capture configured environment, endpoint origin, receiver revision, verification label, event source, resource marker, route, response, and downstream disposition. Compare working and crossed cases to identify the first divergence without exposing secret values.
Change one routing input
Vary one endpoint, environment setting, trusted source marker, receiver revision, or verification context. Compare route and effect while keeping resources synthetic. If event origin is not independently observable, record that limitation rather than treating a label as proof.
What to carry forward
The brief is ready when crossed fixtures reproduce the first environment divergence and show whether a resource effect occurred. Recommend the smallest safe routing or containment step. Leave origin and credential questions unresolved when controlled evidence cannot distinguish them.
