Check whether the outcome improved
Check the transition evidence
Confirm that the chosen status has the required result, decision, owner, or dependency condition. Compare dates and references, and ensure the evidence belongs to this work item and scope. Check that the updated status has direct evidence rather than a newer timestamp alone.
Test collaborator interpretation
Ask whether a reviewer can identify what happens next, who owns it, and what is waiting. Exercise the relevant link or handoff path and note any remaining ambiguity or stale dependent item.
Set the next freshness point
Verify a due date, event, or completion condition that should prompt the next status change. If the outcome remains uncertain, keep the item provisional and make the evidence request visible.
What to carry forward
Verification passes when the new status matches evidence, collaborators can act from it, and a future transition has a trigger. If the record cannot support a confident state, preserve a provisional label and name the evidence needed next. Keep a provisional state when current reality is still supported only by inference.
Keep the decision with the work.
Use a Work Item in Aglet to record the problem, the evidence you have, and the next decision. Add an owner and priority, then keep updates in the discussion so the next person can follow the reasoning.
