Verify an Inconclusive Result Is Honest and Useful

Verification for inconclusive work checks whether uncertainty is precise enough to guide a human decision. Review the alternatives, evidence ledger, supported invariants, next discriminator, and interim recommendation with a small case. A useful inconclusive result narrows the space without pretending to resolve it.

Check whether the outcome improved

  1. Check uncertainty structure

    Assert the result names the decision, alternatives, evidence for and against each, unsupported claims, and current status. Require source, time, and scope for material artifacts. Mark vague phrases such as unclear or more data needed as failures unless they identify a specific boundary.

  2. Reproduce the boundary

    Run the smallest comparison or fixture used to justify uncertainty and verify that it produces indistinguishable or conflicting outcomes. Check supported conclusions that remain stable across alternatives. Record any discrepancy between the handoff and reproduced evidence.

  3. Review next action

    Confirm the proposed observation, owner, cutoff, expected discriminating result, and interim decision are explicit. Verify that a no-change outcome has a stopping rule. Retain the alternative matrix, evidence index, comparison output, and exact result revision.

Accept the result when it states a real decision boundary, traceable evidence limits, stable supported claims, and a bounded next action or justified stopping point.
