Prioritize a release with delayed symptom onset

A delayed symptom may be severe now even if its source is unclear. Prioritization should separate current customer impact from attribution confidence and decide which uncertainty matters first. Record whether the queue needs mitigation review, evidence collection, or both.

Decide where the work belongs

  1. Rank present harm

Describe current failed actions, affected users, duration, and trend using observed records. Do not lower priority because the release preceded the symptom by days or because attribution is uncertain.

  2. Rank attribution value

Identify whether connecting the symptom to a release would change a current decision, such as comparing a version or reviewing a scheduled change. Prioritize the most decision-relevant evidence rather than reconstructing every event.

  3. Set a time-aware checkpoint

Choose a checkpoint around the next scheduled job, traffic pattern, or verification window that could reproduce the delay. State what evidence would raise, lower, or split the work into separate items.

What to carry forward

Prioritization should leave a current-impact level, evidence owner, and checkpoint tied to the delayed behavior. Keep the item active when harm continues even if the release relationship remains a hypothesis; attribution can follow the user-impact decision. An unresolved cause should not hide worsening impact; use current failed actions to set urgency, then choose only the attribution evidence that can change the next decision.

Keep the decision with the work.

Use a Work Item in Aglet to record the problem, the evidence you have, and the next decision. Add an owner and priority, then keep updates in the discussion so the next person can follow the reasoning.
