Prioritize Agent Handoff Cases by Consequence

Handoff testing deserves attention where a missed transfer leaves work in the wrong state or makes a person repeat the investigation. Prioritize unclear ownership, high-context tasks, and escalation triggers that appear late. Keep harmless wording differences out of the first queue.

Decide where the work belongs

  1. Rank transfer consequence

Describe what happens if the agent continues, stops without context, or sends the task to the wrong recipient. Give weight to irreversible state changes, time-sensitive work, and tasks where missing evidence changes the next decision.

  2. Compare context burdens

Review cases with short requests, long history, attachments, tool results, conflicting instructions, and unresolved choices. Identify which missing fields force recipient reconstruction. Prefer diagnostic cases that expose a real transfer dependency.

  3. Choose the handoff queue

Select cases, expected packet fields, recipient, owner, and review date. Defer low-impact phrasing variations with a trigger. If the receiver cannot be observed, prioritize capturing the transfer packet before expanding the score set.

What to carry forward

The priority output is a handoff queue tied to transfer consequence, recipient effort, context burden, and observation quality. Start where a wrong continuation or context loss could change the user outcome. Keep style polish separate from transfer correctness during the first review.

Keep the decision with the work.

Use a Work Item in Aglet to record the problem, the evidence you have, and the next decision. Add an owner and priority, then keep updates in the discussion so the next person can follow the reasoning.
