Establish what is happening
Map the period dictionary
Write fiscal year, quarter, month, week, start, end, label, and timezone or business-day assumptions. Mark 52-week, 53-week, and stub-period rules if they are supported. Keep calendar dates beside fiscal labels so reviewers can see the mapping rather than infer it.
Trace assignment and grouping
Follow a boundary date through calendar lookup, filters, grouping, aggregation, comparison, and chart or export labels. Compare the assigned fiscal period with the report control. Record the first stage that moves a date, omits a day, or reuses a calendar label.
Bound affected views
List cards, charts, tables, exports, and period comparisons that use fiscal fields. Separate reports intentionally using calendar dates from those using fiscal periods. Ask the reporting owner to settle a conflict between a source date, fiscal dictionary, and visible label.
What to carry forward
Triage is complete when fiscal rules, boundary dates, first assignment divergence, affected views, and a responsible owner are explicit before any totals are compared. Keep the result provisional when 53-week or stub-period policy is missing from the report contract.

Keep the decision with the work.
Use a Work Item in Aglet to record the problem, the evidence you have, and the next decision. Add an owner and priority, then keep updates in the discussion so the next person can follow the reasoning.
