Verify notification coalescing across retries and real updates

Verification should show that one event does not create confusing copies while distinct updates remain visible and actionable. Exercise retry and channel paths, then inspect group or updated content, history, and the latest destination. Keep event identity and state transition explicit.

Check whether the outcome improved

  1. Check a retry

    Replay the same event through a retry or repeated delivery and confirm one understandable representation remains. Verify status, timestamp, action, and retained history. Record which channel or platform behavior is outside the test.

  2. Check a real update

    Create or review a legitimate state transition for the same resource and confirm it is not suppressed as a duplicate. Ensure the latest action and context remain visible when grouped or updated.

  3. Review channel and history

    Inspect in-app, email, browser, or mobile output where available, along with empty and narrow states. State tested identity and time boundaries. Leave a partial pass when external delivery cannot be directly verified. Check the retained history for an understandable event sequence.

What to carry forward

Verification passes when retries coalesce without hiding legitimate transitions, history remains truthful, and the latest action survives. If one channel or timing window is untested, document it. Fewer messages alone is not evidence that coalescing is correct.
