Verify notification copy across narrow screens and previews

Verification should prove that a person can understand the notification and its next action before opening it, including on a narrow screen or preview. Test short and long messages, then inspect destination and accessible name. Keep platform truncation outside the claim when unobserved.

Check whether the outcome improved

  1. Check the primary message

    Review desktop and narrow notification with event, actor, resource, action, and destination. Confirm the essential decision context remains visible or available in accessible text. Record line wrapping and selected viewport.

  2. Check long and localized copy

    Use a long message, expanded action label, and available locale or preview. Verify truncation removes secondary detail first and does not turn the action into a generic verb. Keep destination context aligned.

  3. Review recovery and status

    Open the notification, return, inspect badge or history, and check focus and status. State tested devices and platform limits. Leave a partial pass when native preview or localization rendering cannot be directly observed.

What to carry forward

Verification passes when event, actor, resource, and action context survive tested widths and previews, or the accessible name supplies equivalent meaning. If native truncation or locale is partial, document it. A shorter message is not a pass if it creates an unsafe guess.
