Keep the identity evidence
Record parent, variant, SKU, title, image, index source, query, sort, and the choice each row supported. Note whether the issue came from data, indexing, or presentation. This prevents a later cleanup from erasing useful variation.
Compare later result sets
Review another category, sort, and variant family after the change. Look for a legitimate choice that now hides or a duplicate representation that remains. Preserve a successful grouped case and an intentionally ungrouped control.
Refine one grouping check
Require future reviews to include a confirmed duplicate, a meaningful variant, and a destination check. Assign ownership and revisit date. Define the observation that would show grouping reduced clutter without reducing product choice. Record whether the duplicate signal changed the chosen destination.
What to carry forward
The learning record connects one duplicate-row decision to later evidence and a repeatable identity review. Stop when another reviewer can test duplicate and variant cases. Carry forward uncertainty where canonical product identity or variant scope is incomplete.
