Prioritize Conflicting Agent Recommendations

Prioritizing contradictory recommendations means deciding which disagreement needs resolution first and which can remain a documented difference. Rank by the action each output would trigger, evidence quality, and recurrence. Give higher priority to conflicts that affect a current decision or expose a shared workflow inconsistency.

Decide where the work belongs

  1. Rank action consequence

    List the actions supported by each recommendation and the affected records, release, or process. Record what changes if either option is chosen and where reversal is difficult. A narrow conflict at a decision gate may outrank broad disagreement about low-impact improvements.

  2. Assess disagreement quality

    Classify the split as different inputs, objectives, evidence, criteria, timing, interpretation, or unexplained output. Compare repeated runs and source revisions. Prioritize missing shared context before output tuning when the two recommendations were never solving the same bounded question.

  3. Choose a queue action

    Select align the question, collect a deciding artifact, investigate the divergent path, request policy resolution, or document intentional alternatives. Include owner, compared revisions, deadline or review point, and escalation trigger. Keep both recommendations visible until the selected action is accepted.

What to carry forward

Return a ranked conflict queue with affected action, disagreement class, evidence quality, recurrence, owner, and resolution path. The leading item should identify the smallest comparison that can change the decision. Mark any interim choice provisional when no shared objective or deciding evidence exists.
