Check whether the outcome improved
Check the keyboard journey
Type a known prefix, move through options, accept one, dismiss one, and submit literal text. Confirm focus, highlighted option, input value, and result query at each point. Record the expected state when no suggestions appear.
Check alternate input
Repeat with pointer or touch and compare the committed value with the keyboard path. Exercise continued typing after a highlight and Escape after movement. Ensure dismissal restores the prior text rather than silently accepting a suggestion.
Review semantic feedback
Inspect accessible name, expanded state, active option, and result status. Confirm the closure record names tested browsers or assistive technology paths and excludes unknowns. Leave any mismatch partial when semantic support was not directly observed.
What to carry forward
Verification passes when keyboard and alternate input methods commit only intentional values, dismissal is reversible, and semantic state matches the visible result. If one assistive technology path remains untested, state the boundary. Do not close from a screenshot that omits the submitted query.
